Balhannah to get new development
BALCOS (owner of the site at Balhannah) has exciting plans to Re-develop the site currently home to Mitre 10, Balhannah Kitchens & Balhannah Cold Stores.
It will be a giant leap forward for BALCOS who have been serving the Hills community since 1946. The site has evolved over the years being originally established for the storage and packing of apples for local growers, and still being owned by apple growers today.
This re-development will bring great improvements to the site. The streetscape will be enhanced from the main road with large open space, village style features and landscaped garden areas including an eating/meeting area. The shopping experience will be improved with more parking facilities and loading areas. A new garden centre will offer a much wider range of products.
The plan sees Mitre 10 relocate the store back from the road, by refurbishing an existing building. This will allow for a larger store all on one level, with trade, timber and sand & metal also relocated to have all products in close proximity of each other. The trade timber and building products will have drive through under cover loading with a much improved builders and DIY range.
Other buildings to the left and right of the car park will provide various tenancy opportunities for local businesses to operate in this improved development. Parking for over 100 vehicles will ensure easy access for customers, which is something needed in the local town.
Pugh Road will be upgraded as part of the development with the current building yard to be transformed into premium residential allotments, with the approval process for that part of the development currently with council.
